Installing XO-VAC+¶
XO-VAC+ should be installed in a clean laboratory environment away from flammable materials, with suitable safe power supply and safety equipment available.
When setting up an XO-VAC+ in a new location, the following steps should be completed:
-
Ensure the intended space for XO-VAC+ is suitable (clean, not adjacent to flammable materials, not near sources of substantial vibration or strong EM fields).
-
Ensure the cabling is configured correctly and the cables are properly connected. Ensure the device and external power supply are switched off, then install the electrical cables and ethernet communications cable.
-
Wheel the device into its intended position and securely lock the brakes on the wheels.
-
Inspect the vacuum chamber externally to ensure damage has not occurred in transit. Clean away any dust or dirt (See the cleaning page for more.).
-
Check the payload tray is empty. Close the door and secure.
-
Switch on power to the device.
-
Check the vacuum system is operating correctly, by running down to minimum pressure and holding for around 15 minutes (see Operating the Vacuum System). A minimum pressure of 10e-5Pa or better should be achievable.
-
Connect to XO-VAC+ over the network (see Networking), using the XO-VAC+ User Interface software (see also How do I: Install the XO-VAC+ User Interface software?). Ensure that the system information displayed is as expected and the device has successfully booted to
Idlestate. -
Using the XO-VAC+ User Interface software build and run a simple recipe to ensure the thermal systems are working correctly (see Basics of Operation and
How-Topages for more information) -
XO-VAC+ is now ready for use. Please read the rest of this user manual carefully before use.
